After a very long break in the creative realm of the handmade, it is my pleasure to present you with a sneak peek into a cute little sewing project I did with my Mum recently for my dear Instagram friend Christine and her little girl Caia Camille, due early November.
(I have adored Christine and her BFF, Vania’s fine art photography for years, but they are also creators & owners of Bloom Theory and recently have also added the making of baby accessories to their many talents.)
Now a few words about our little patchwork project…. I wanted to create something that can be used everyday for a longer period and serves multi-purpose. I tried to come up with something that represents Christine’s adorable boho style and also incorporates her favorite fabrics like vintage and contemporary lace, plus some of her favorite themes: tribal patterns, teepees, arrows and dreamcatchers. When I asked Christine about her preferences, she gave me free hands, so I decided to make a BOHO SLEEPING BAG that unzips into a BOHO PLAY MAT for a toddler.
I have added a few pop colors to the color pallette she had in mind and I’m glad I did so, as she also incorporated these colors in the form of alpacas for Caia’s nursery.
It took us around 2-3 weeks to finish the sleeping bag, here are the photos of the final version:
Below are pictures of the blanket, open/laid flat and bundled up 🙂
Christine, I just can’t wait to see the face of your little girl, bundled up in our sleeping bag that was handmade with so much love 🙂 !
